Town of Zhouzhuang (Chinese: 周庄) a town in Jiangsu province, is China's earliest river town. The ancient township, which has a history of more than 900 years, still retains the style and pattern of its ancient village. Zhouzhuang is surrounded and divided by lakes and rivers, 14 stone bridges cross the rivers, all houses were built on the river. When you visit it, you will feel you are in a picture. Zhouzhuang boat operators ferry tourists down the canals while singing songs. Every family has its own pier in the water town.
Chen Yifei (A. D. 1946-2005), a famous artist in China, did a well-known oil painting called Hometown Memory (also named the Double Bridge) in Zhouzhuang.
