Thank you for inviting me to participate in this very informative event. Innovation is essential to a high-performing economy. Overall, countries that are more innovative are passing Canada on measures such as income per capita, productivity, and the quality of social programs. With new key players—such as China, India, and Brazil—in the global economy, Canadian businesses must move up the value chain and specialize in knowledge-intensive, high-value-added goods and services. Canada’s business culture needs to focus more on growth through innovation and less on sales to other companies. International Innovation Conference is important integral part of cultivating culture of innovation and help companies find necessary financing. Canada successfully funds risky ventures in mining and oil and gas development. The financing techniques used by these firms need to be adopted in non-traditional areas, such as biotech and clean energy
